Anslem Wood is a beautiful and rare area of ancient, semi-natural broadleaf woodland on the edge of Canterbury. Mature oak trees dominate the landscape, complemented by a variety of other tree species, and a seasonal stream flows through the site, supporting a diverse range of wildlife. The ground is largely flat, making the wood easy to explore, and a number of natural glades and clearings provide ideal spots for a camp base. A simple log store is positioned towards the southern part of the site, and the woodland feels private and tranquil despite its proximity to a public footpath and the A2. The site has excellent year-round vehicle access via a hard track and shared locked gate. Boundaries are clearly marked with red paint on posts and trees, and a covenant is in place to ensure the quiet and peaceful enjoyment of the wood.
