The land has good access to a public road, particularly suited for transporting timber. The plantation is situated on sloping ground with a southwesterly aspect, overlooking the waters of Loch Shin, and has a mixture of nurse species such as Japanese larch and lodgepole pine. Several small streams run through the wood and there are significant groups of broadleaves, particularly birch, on some stream-sides and within broader rides.
