The site extends to approximately 0.72 acres and comprises a former water pumping station, a former attendant's house, and associated grounds. The pumping station, a traditional red brick building with limestone detailing and a slate roof, dates from circa 1851. The attendant's house, built in a similar style and period, is located nearby. The surrounding land is largely scrub with a cluster of mature trees and areas of hardstanding. The site has a secure, established access directly from Goldthorn Hill via a red brick boundary wall and palisade gates, and there is also potential for secondary access from Upper Villiers Street.
