The wood is located at the north-western end of Goldsborough Wood and has a private feel with no public footpaths. Mature native broadleaved trees include oak, sycamore, beech, and Scots pine, while the understorey features coppiced hazel, elder, and wild rose. A ride-stop entrance provides parking space and leads to a circular foot route that crosses ditches on sleeper bridges. The wood has a tranquil atmosphere and features a rustic bench overlooking a beech grove. There are views across farm fields and pasture, as well as a beech grove and some kiln ponds that were once on the opposite side of the track. The ground is generally level and easy to navigate.
