Keeling House is a Denys Lasdun-designed cluster block with four maisonette wings tethered to a central service tower. The building, completed in 1959, consists of sixteen storeys, four wings, fifty-six maisonettes, and eight studio flats, organized around a shared core of stairs, lifts, and communal spaces. The design includes short landings shared between households, creating a "street in the sky" where residents can easily recognize and interact with each other. The building features a central core that draws paths together, rather than apart, and is positioned to foster small, daily encounters between residents. The design was influenced by Lasdun's desire to preserve the social fabric of the Victorian terrace, which was being lost due to war damage and compulsory purchase orders. The building has been comprehensively refurbished and retains its original Grade II* listed status, with visible and light interventions made to preserve the original plan and structure. Each maisonette has a two-storey layout, with generous, legible spaces for living.
