Lawel Hill Wood is a 120.88-acre woodland consisting of 68.10 acres of coniferous plantation, 51.52 acres of broadleaved trees, and 1.26 acres of open ground. The woodland is mainly comprised of larch, spruce, and pine, with sitka spruce recently planted in areas formerly made up of conifers. The land is classified as grade F4 and F5 by the James Hutton Institute, and it benefits from being near public roads and timber markets. The wood offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside, including Bennachie, Lochnagar, and Aberdeen.
