Harper's Wood is a semi-natural broadleaved woodland situated on the western slopes of the River Wye gorge in the Lower Wye Valley, with a diversity of habitat and species. The woodland is dominated by mature oak, small-leaved lime, hornbeam, beech, ash, and Wych elm, with a variety of other tree species including hazel, holly, and birch. The ground is level at many points, creating areas with lovely views and tranquility. The woodland is home to a variety of flora, including wild garlic, yellow archangel, wood anemones, and bluebells, as well as numerous wildlife such as badgers, robins, and birds of prey. The area includes dramatic rock formations, the ruins of a small stone building, and stunning surroundings in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
