Lickbank Wood is a relatively young wood, approximately 20 years old, located on a landscaped coal mine in Cumbria. The wood is largely level with a slight dip towards the southern boundary, where a grassy area offers a view of the first fringes of the Lakeland fells. The woodland is planted with a mix of native broadleaf species, including ash, cherry, alder, and willow, as well as scattered larch and Scots pine. A small area to the south-west has been clear-felled, providing an opportunity for a replanting project. The wood contains bramble and gorse along the boundaries, and several large lime trees in the south-western corner. The woodland floor is home to forest floor plants like foxglove, indicating the wood's maturation.
