Ilsington Wood is a mature woodland stocked with English oak trees, approximately 60-80 years old, that need to be thinned to favour the best trees for timber production. The wood is situated on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, set back from the coast of Devon, and has easy access from a vehicle gate and old partly stoned access tracks. The woodland floor is covered with native flowers, including bluebells and primroses, which may benefit from further thinning. Internal access is adequate, with topography varying from gentle to steeper slopes down to council roads on three sides of the wood.
